I have a load of fields in my report. I was able to preview the report fine until I added some constituent summary fields (gift totals and largest amount). Whenever I try to preview the file now it hangs saying "accessing database" at the bottom of the screen.

I have come across this. I have not gone through all of your code so there may also be something wrong with it (or there may not) but I think it is something to do with rejection code. I had this issue and blogged about it:
Chimpegration is compatible with all versions of The Raiser's Edge 7 from version 7.82 and onwards. Unfortunately Blackbaud Hosting is unable to support our product at this time but other hosting companies such as Beyond Nines do support Chimpegration (they have a couple of organizations using Chimpegration in their environment).
This is one of the main reasons that we created IDLookup Dedupe, a module to our Raiser's Edge plug-in IDLookup. This allows you to use the very wide criteria sets available in IDLookup to dedupe your database. It gives you the flexibility that you had prior to 7.92 and much more. Check out our the details here: IDLookup Dedupe
Feel free to get in contact if you would like any more information.

This will give you two reports; one by fund and the other by constituent. You are able to see what people have paid and what Read More...
