When I was a consultant we'd often battle between Convio and BBNC. Not the same battle anymore these days, but at the tie it was the classic "best of breed" vs integration discussion.

In and of itself it really is one of those "huh... that's kind of weird" things. I am more concerned about what it represents - the architecture of a 32-bit windows application coded in VB6/C+ is slowly but surely diverging from the architecture of modern operating systems. As time goes on there aren't going to be ways to compensate for things like this without major workarounds and Blackbaud doesn't have anything coming down the pipe to replace it.
We're undergoing a site-wide assessment and review of all our business systems and are starting to compile a list of alternative products and vendors for some of our systems. Your help in growing the list of options is appreciated!
