I am very curious to know how users flag prospects identified in pro-active research so that they do not continue to pull on later queries being used to locate new prospects. I don’t even know where to start. Any ideas would help!

If you have the prospect module you can create proposal records for each now
prospect, but that's a lot of work. You could create an attribute of
"Prospect" to flag them. You could also use Constituent codes. There's lots
of different ways, and unfortunately no right answer.

We do have the prospect tab, but development staff is using the proposal tab to actually enter proposed gifts. I'm not sure that we would want to go that route because some of the potential prospects may turn out to not be prospects after someone has contacted them.
As far as the constituency code goes, you think that we could create a type of prospect? I think that could work especially since there are date to and date from fields. There is not a comment field though and that would mean that I could not input which area on campus this prospect may be interested in.

What about using the prospect status or prospect classification fields in the "General" section of the Prospect Tab? You could create an entry in your table for "Qualified Prospect" or something to that extent to let you know that the record has been researched and is a "suspect". Likewise, you could create a status or classification that lets you know that record has been researched and is not a prospect.
I'm not sure how your moves management system with the prospect tab works, but in ours the overall prospect status relates to the stages of moves management, so anyone who has a prospect status, whatever it is, is in the process somewhere. This way, if I want to identify new prospects who haven't been researched at all, I can just query on the prospect status being blank. So, when I find a record with no prospect status and I want to flag it for research, I put in a prospect status of "Identify", and the process begins. If the prospect turns out not to be a prospect at all, I can indicate as much through this status so that my future queries for new prospects doesn't pull the record. The key is making sure that only new prospects have this status field blank.
We pull call lists for development staff based on information in RE and then may do preliminary research to refine these lists. Once they have contacted someone on the list and have identified that they are actually interested, we will perform more research. We would like our DOs to be able to pull profiles on those we have identified and would also like to exclude those people from future pulls.

Thank you for that list! We have been using the Prospect Module mainly for a current Campaign via proposals but wanted to start a new reporting system for the gift officers review. This list was just what I was looking for to use.
Thanks again!
