If you can't delete the address, it should be because the address has either the Preferred or the Business indicator.
Usually the sticky one is the address with the business indicator- it should be appearing because there's an org relationship that's marked Primary Business. If the record has an org relationship that's marked primary business, then the address from this org should be pulling over and appearing with the business indicator. In order to get rid of it, you need to uncheck the org relationship as primary business. Then exit and reenter the record, and it shoudl disappear. You do NOT want to just try to delete the address. Does that make sense?
I do have some records where no matter what I do the duplicate address won't disappear. I've found I have to recreate the record from scratch, and then the addreses behave. I think the record can become corrupt and the indicators no longer behave properly. It's a pain but if you recreate the record they should be OK.
Hope this helps -- Thank you Andrea for posting up this problem you are having. I have been having this problem too Quote:

generally with a lot of fiddling around I can eventually get the duplicate address to a stage where I can delete it - but it takes time to get to this stage sometimes and if I cant change the 'business indicator' property on the duplicate address then it is is like you said dyednwool, you have to recreate the record from scratch again.
I am training staff to update contact details where the preferred address comes from a link to the Primary Business Information of the constituent, and so all this mucking around to change address details can be confusing for trainees and then they are not confident with making changes etc.
Anyways, thank you all for this discussion - I too, have been stumped by this problem, and now I know that there has been an issue at times, for other RE users with duplicate addresses not being able to be deleted easily and without a fuss.

Diane
PS We use RE Version 7.80.1122 so we are behind in RE versions a bit - I wonder whether this is fixed in the laster version? I hope so! |
