Upgrading to 7.82 in December

I am going ahead with the upgrade to 7.82, mainly because it fixes the problem of the receipt amount not being correct when used with events/benefits.

I have done due diligence with my hosting services for BBNC 5.0.

For those of you already upgraded -- any installation pitfalls I should be aware of?

We upgraded to version 7.82 last week, and I'm happy to report that it was the smoothest installation we've ever done. I think this is a great release for Blackbaud!

As a note, since you are a NetCommunity user, the only issue that we have experienced with the integration between the two is that we now encounter an error when we try to add spouse information to a Raiser's Edge record from a NetCommunity event or membership transaction. If we commit the transaction and the resulting gift batch, we can then go back and add the spouse information. Not a huge deal though, and Blackbaud is working on it (Solution BB360014).

We upgraded to Microsoft Office 2007 and then Raiser's Edge 7.82 and discovered that those on Microsoft Office 2007 could not access pivot reports and we also lost some of the Outlook integration functionality. Working with Blackbaud, we found we had to fix the dll files. We had to manually fix on every workstation. After that access to pivot reports was resolved.

I would also recommend sharing with your staff which version they should be on, ask them to check and ensure they have that version, and if not, to let the appropriate RE support person know.

With your upgrade announcement, you might consider asking your staff to go into Raiser's Edge and open it to activate the upgrade on their workstation.

Otherwise, it was a smooth transition for us. We just went live mid-August with RE so we are really fairly new with all of this.

I had been prepping for a 7.82 upgade before Christmas but it looks like that is not going to happen. Instead I'll be prepping for 7.83 in early 2008.

We upgraded to 7.82 on 11/19, and then, without my knowledge or permission, our outsourced IT people upgraded to 7.83 Friday while I was out. It seems that the daily backups were not working. I don't know the whole story, but I am angry as a hornet that we went for nearly 3 weeks without a backup! In looking at the Read Me file for the new version, it looks as though there are some efficiency improvements in Query andd Export, and some henhanced Help links and not a lot else. Most of the items in the Outstanding Issues list carry the notice that they were duplicated in 7.82.1514.7 or earlier.

The only other problems noticed in the 7.82 version happened in the Exit and Sign Out process. Some of us got errors about 75% of the time, while most did not have the errors. Of course the ones that were getting the errors are the heavy duty users. Apparently others are having the problem, too, as there is
BB413606, which you can add your name to if you experience the problem.

I can say that it is great to be able to maximize import and event screens! This is available in 7.82. I'll let you know if I experience any problems with 7.83.

I have upgraded to 7.82 3 weeks ago, no major misshaps so far,

I might need to go to 7.83 this week on the test bed and production the following week,
I am not entirely happy about timing so I might move the upgrade to mid January if I get agreenet from all managers.

7.83 Upgrade

Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate on how long it could take to upgrade to 7.83 from 7.80.1122.26 with 5 stand alones and server? Like what would be the worst case scernio?
