Rep Power: 0 | queries and reports slower in 7.81 Since upgrading to 7.81 last month, we have noticed a sharp increase in the amount of time it takes to run Acknowledgement Letters and some reports and queries that ran quickly prior to the upgrade. Testing has led us to this conclusion: * really large queries used as base queries - in reports - are causing things to run slowly * queries with a lot of criteria seem to run slowly (or not at all), especially when it’s a lot of “OR” statements Or, in the words of our systems manager: "It seems to generate an inordinate amount of sql queries and merges to derive a union of two relatively manageable record sets. It is probably in the generation of the union which returns a massively large record set and really bogs things down as it just grinds away...My conclusion is that this is somehow the fault of the execution plan derived from the SQL query RE concocts based on the item selections that have been chosen in the query. By splitting the OR statement into two separate queries that are then merged, we’re seeing a much better optimization of the sql execution." The recommendation from our I.S. department is to build more queries and use the Merge function to produce the results we used to get with one query. Have others experienced this slow-down? If so, are you addressing it the same way we are?
