After having 7.70 for a few years and it not being used, we are just in the process of inputting the data and actually using RE. This will be used primarily for membership data and we have purchased the membership module. Since our service had lapsed, we also purchased the maintenance reinstatement which apparently means downloading 7.81.

Since this is all brand new to me over the past two months, I have been relying on all of your expertise from the board to help me along. However, I am stumped on whether or not to upgrade to 7.81. Right now there is basically no data other than constituent names in the system so I am wondering if now is a good time to change (since I won't know any different and there isn't a lot of data that it can possibly mess with at this point!!).

You may as well bite the bullet, so to speak, and upgrade, as it sounds as if you almost have to with purchasing the maintenance reinstatement deal.

If you are more or less starting from scratch, I think it's a good idea to start with 7.81. BB will encourage you to upgrade every time you have a question anyway.

We certainly never upgrade to the latest version as soon as it's available. But, 7.81 has been around awhile, there are a load of patches that have been issued, so it's probably a good time now to go for it.

You may as well start building your database with a more current version since, as you said, you "won't know any different".
