We are currently in the process of converting to RE from Millenium. We are currently installing 7.81 from the deploy server. I see that many of the testers only have 500 MB of RAM and 1gb processors. Is this sufficent to run 7.81. I see by Blackbauds Hardware Requirments it's not but management insists will give it try.
I called Support Friday afternoon so they could give me 7.80 and the last patch to build my new test server to match my current setup. The Support Analyst informed that 7.81 would run on less than the system recommendations, so I could just download and install from the web. While I agree with her that it would run, my reply to her is my suggestion to you:
"Yes, 7.81 will run on less than the system recommendations. But if I have a response time issue, you're going to tell me that my workstation doesn't meet the system recommendations and you're unable to help me."
My point: It'll run and it might run fine. But I wouldn't risk it because if something happens Blackbaud might not provide support. Just my opinion though.
I also think it's crazy that the support persons are suggesting I upgrade knowing I don't meet the minimum recommendations. But that's off topic.
