Angry BBA/TRE and RE 7.81

RE 7.81 is not compatible with BBA/TRE. BB sent out a letter to each site's primary BBA/TRE contact at the end of November. For those of you that have both, are you going to upgrade and live with the integration issues or are you going to wait to update RE until they release the compatible version of BBA/TRE in "the 1st quarter of 2007"?

Seriously?

We are looking at getting BBA around February. Hopefully they have it worked out by then.

Are we sure this is a definate incompatibility issue? Or is it another IE7 thing where it probably is compatible, but they just haven't tested fully yet?

Here's the main part of the letter -
You are receiving this letter because our records show that you are The Researcher's Edge primary contact at <site> and we want to share important information regarding the upcoming release of RE 7.81. RE 7.81 is currently not compatible with The Researcher's Edge.
If you upgrade to RE 7.81, please be aware of the ways the upgrade impacts integration between TRE and RE:
(Summarized.. took out full error message)
-When opening a constituent record from TRE you will receive an error and RE will shut down.
-When linking a prospect in TRE with RE you will also receive an error and RE will shut down
The following functionality is not affected by updating to RE 7.81:
-Retrieving prospect information from RE to a TRE prospect record
-Sending a group of prospects from TRE to RE
We are currently developing a compatible version of TRE, which is due to be available in the 1st Quarter of 2007.

Rhetorical question - 'how can they knowingly issue an update/upgrade that is incompatible with their core product?'

I have one better, go count the number of times they've had to release a patch to fix the GL/FE interface... Which is more core to most organizations then TRE....

I have always noticed that there seems to be a big disconnect between TRE and RE. Well, I guess this confirms it. Either way, I did upgrade RE with 7.81, so I am forced to work the problems until they fix things. There are, of course, work arounds and we fortunately have not used the integration tools between RE and TRE that much. If I were you, I would wait....

No, no. Sorry for the confusion. I thought the latest update was what this thread and the letter mentioned. I get it now.....

Hehe, here's a funny part... Our VP of development, who, btw, is not a site administrator, received the letter on this... neither one of the two people that are site administrators for our organization have received it...

Any new developments that anyone has heard about on this? We have TRE and I was actually hoping to be moving information to RE during this time, but I'm also looking forward to some of the new features of 7.81, if they pan out...

Thanks,
Doug
