Hi all,

My organization was using the volunteer module a couple years ago but stopped when that coordinator left and we are looking at completely revamping the setup and getting it going again.

We would like to be able to include everything on the volunteer tab to minimize having to switch tabs (we do use a constituent code of volunteer). I have a couple questions:

1. Our largest volunteer program is friendly visiting where a volunteer meets with a client an hour a week. We would like to link the volunteer with the person they are visiting but right now creating relationships on top of entering volunteer info seems like too much (too time consuming) for our coordinator. I'm wondering how anyone with this type of program, or a similar one like mentoring, enters these jobs etc. - do you use one job for each client or just one job called "mentoring" or whatever?

2. In the availability I would like to record cities not just days of the week since there are 8 or 10 different locations volunteers can choose from.

3. Because these friendly visiting visits are an ongoing thing, our coordinator would like to automatically record their hours each week since we know them. I see this is not possible (added myself to the wait list) so I thought maybe a recurring time sheet batch with these people already listed but I see that is not possible either (grrrr). How do other people get around this? It seems like a lot of extra work to enter the same people over and over again every week in the time sheet batch.

Any help would really be appreciated!!!

I have another question to add to the list of questions above. We are testing what the volunteer module can do, so we assigned a job (data entry) to a volunteer. We filled out all the info about that job assignment, like department, category, task etc. Now when we want to enter hours about that assignment it seems we have to re-pick that job and enter all of that info again in the time sheet???? How does that make any sense......what's the point of "assigning" jobs to people if it doesn't help in entering hours? In my mind when you are entering times and have to lookup a job the available jobs would be the ones assigned to that person and all the info would automatically populate the time sheet fields. Since this doesn't appear to be the case why assign jobs if you can just pick what job they are doing in the time sheet?

Am I missing something?
