We are looking to get Raiser's Edge in the next few months. I am not clear whether Raiser's Edge has the capacity to talk directly to an existing ticketing system. We use a ticketing system called 'TOR' throughout the museum. A benefit of our membership scheme is a certain amount of free tickets to paying exhibitions. If for example, a family of four are entitled to four free tickets, but turned up with a fifth person and tried to get a get fifth free ticket, would Raiser’s Edge be able to alert the person selling the tickets through the ticketing system that they are trying to buy more than their allocated benefit of four tickets?
It depends what you mean by "talk". It is possible to manually export your data from Raiser's Edge or to use the API to have real time interaction with TOR. This of course depends on the functionality of TOR also.
There are mainy possibilities available and no one solution fits all.
Sorry, I'm not hugely technical - I mean real time! I know it's possible to set up a real time link between the two systems but I don't know if Raiser's Edge has the capacity to flag up then and there that supporters are exceeding their benefits.

Raiser's Edge can only initiate alerts based on events in Raiser's Edge. It cannot initiate alerts based on events in TOR. In order for this to work, you would have to have TOR raise the flag based on the Raiser's Edge data, because buying a ticket is an event in TOR. If TOR can trigger alerts, then RE can provide the information it needs, but RE cannot initiate it.
Does that make more sense?

Yes thanks, I think it does! Basically TOR needs to have the capacity to trigger an alert to the person selling the tickets based on the information stored in and provided by Raiser's Edge.
