Netsolution - need separate account for offline CC processing?
We purchased Netsolution with IATS as our processor, but we would like to have offline (credit card processing in RE: Batch) as well. So I contacted Blackbaud for info. (i.e. whether we need another IATS account for RE: batch processing) and they told me that we do not need, and we should be able to use second account number (with 01 at the end ) for offline processing. Then, I contacted IATS to clarify that, but they said that we would need separate account for offline processing.
When we used Netsolutions, we had two accounts - one for processing through batch and one for processing through transaction downloads from the net. Since IATS is processing your credit card info, I think I would follow their process. They are very used to working with Raiser's Edge.

Maybe both. I have 2 - one with a 99 at the end for online and one with a 01 at the end. I have only one contract but maybe if you did not contract that way originally you need a new contract to get the 01 account.
Check again with IATS that your original contract did not give you one of these accounts. When I arrived here 8 months ago they were only using the 99 account and did not even know they had the 01 account. I got them to stop doing manual credit card processing within 1 month of my arrival. Our contract also gave us credit card types thet our other process did not have. Apparently, no one understood the contract when they entered into it 4+ years ago.
We have two accounts: one with 99 at the end and other one with 01 at the end. The IATS sales Rep. told me that the one with 01 at end is for Admin. use, and the 99 one is for Netsolution. But when I talked to Blackbaud, they said the one with 01 at the end is for offline (i.e. processing CC in Batch).
We also have two separate accounts for offline and NetCommunity and were not given any other choice by IATS.
By the way, if you are using IATS for recurring gif donations, I discovered that if you ask them to change your offline account to an account ending in "30", you can bypass the IATS check for expired credit cards, and then it is up to the bank to accept them or not. Many banks do not check the expiry date. I guess it is all in how you want to deal with your donors --do you want to assume they meant to give you the new exipry date so you keep collecting? That is the philosphy here.

So we would not need another account since we have 01 account. We basically want to be able to process credit cards that do not come through Netsolutions in RE : Batch.
01 is Admin and 99 is for automated web transactions (Netsolution and Netcommunity).
If you are batch processing you would like to distinguish revenue streams you can ask for additional account codes and assign them to the transaction in the batch. You can process in the same batch CC transactions with multiple codes
we have got the following
01 - for Admin - the only which can also do refunds (it was audit requirement that refunds and admin options like setting passwords etc have to be separated from regular processing)
02 - general Membership
03 - Donations
04 - Special events
05 - Finance direct transaction
06 - Remote branch of Museum
99 - Web transactions
we actaully now use the approach andrew listed
keeps things seperate.
when you are setting up your IATS account just make it clear to them that you want to be able to process offline and online transactions useing the same account
we had some issues with that 99 or the 01 codes not working because they didn't set them up.
