Question NetSolutions- EFT & ICVerify

Hi,

I'm hoping you all can help me wrap my brain around the NetSolutions EFT process.

We have NetSolutions & EFT Module, our processor is Verisign; we need to purchase ICVerify. We have not yet gone live with NetDonors or EFT.

What is the function of ICVerify? Does it simply enable the processing of recurring gifts? Do you ever enter or process gifts in ICVerify when processing recurring gifts in RE?

The Finance Director and myself have run through the ICverify demo. It seems like they are missing fields that we are used to seeing such as Billing Address, Memo/Notes, Email, Telephone, Fund Restrictions.

It seems to me that I remember having the option to process gifts through our own internal page with NetDonors where we can record this kind of info; or maybe just through the recurring batch in RE? I'd just like to make sure that we can still process recurring gifts with all of the info that we require (listed above) even though those fields are not available in ICVerify.

Your explanations of this new process for us are greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
~Marnie

IC Verify would serve as your processor - the company actually running and validating every charge. You can also use IATS Ticketmaster to do this. I use IATS but I believe the process would be the same (somebody correct me if I am wrong)

The demo you likely used was for processing credit cards through their web which is not the process that NetSolutions uses. NetSolutions just needs to know which company to send the info to for verification (you set it up in Netsolutions) and it does it automatically from the backend.

Running credit cards for gifts that are not made online (mailed in on a reply device) you still again not use the web interface that ICVerify offers. You would enter your gifts into batch and run them straight from there.

As far as fields, you would be using RE fields and I guess that the system knows which fields ICVerify needs and doesn't need when it sends it. It all happens behind the scenes in seconds so I don't think you need to worry about it.

The only time you may want to use their web interface to run your cards is maybe at an event where you might want to use a laptop and the internet to run charges. If you have access to the web thought then I would probably just set up a net event page that you can use to run charges at the event (late ticket purchases, auction purchases, etc.) instead of ICVerify's system. The problem with the company's web interface is that it does not bring anything into RE - you would need to data enter it separately fromthe process on their web and there is no need to do that.

As far as I know with regards to recurring gifts when someone enters a recurring gift on NetSolutions they are only telling you of your intention. They can select an option to have their first payment charged automatically but all future payments are done on a monthly basis but not automatically - they are initiated by a staff person who rather than using a recurring batch can use the EFT module to call up anyone with a recurring gift payment due. It is a really good module and I love it.

Question EFT Module vs Recurring Batch

Melissa -
I just wanted to know what the benefits of having the EFT module are to your organization?
I was under the impression that it would automatically process the monthly recurring donations but you mentioned that a staff member would need to get into the EFT Module and run the payments. Isn't this what we would do anyways if we were to turn on the recurring switch in a batch in NetSolutions? So whats the catch, or the added value in having an EFT Module for you folks?
Thanks!
Sumit

The system will automatically search the entire database for anyone with a payment due so any new recurring gift donors, quarterly or annual recurring gifts, pledge payments, etc. get added automatically preventing you from having to continually update your recurring gift batch. It takes seconds and automaticlaly populates your batch with what it finds for those who are due.

If you only have a small handful or recurring gift or pledge donors with monthly payments then maybe you don't need it. But if you have a significant number it is a really great tool.

What to do when CC declined

Thank you very much for your help Melissa.
So, lets say you are using the EFT Module, and some months down the line, one of the credit cards gets declined for whatever reason, data expiry or just plain declined.
What is your technically workflow within RE or the EFT module for handling such a situation? Do you put the expired credit card into a another "declined cards" batch or remove it from the recurring batch altogether until you get a new card from the donor?
Thank you!
