I've heard that it is possible to use a copy of your live database as your Sample database. What I'm trying to do is take last night's backup and replace the generic Sample database. I've heard it is possible by changing the serial # (since the serial # can't be the same as your live database.) In the situation I heard about, the organization contacted their BB rep and they told them how. However, when I contacted my rep, he said "This can be accomplished with the purchase of a non production RE database, which is $1,250." Does anyone have any experience/comments they can offer? We can't make this purchase and I'm fairly sure we don't have to.
I always set up a standalone version on an non networked PC for testing. You can attach/restore the data from a backup in the BMC on the standalone. Be careful to always ensure you sync the installation of any patches between the two db's or you'll get serial number issues.
