I am setting up my first Golf Tournament using the Event Module. There is no dinner involved. We will be establishing Foursomes. Some of these foursomes will register together, others we will assign from individual registrants. I know how I want to deal with foursomes that come in together, but I'm not sure how to handle individuals that we put together as foursomes.

If a person registers and pays for a foursome, I plan to establsih their Participant type as Captain, then add the other 3 registrants as Guests. I am then going to add the "Guest Of" column to the Event Participant screen and sort by that column, so that I can easily see all members of a foursome.

I'd like to accomplish the same thing with Individuals (seeing them as foursomes on the Participants screen), but cannot use the "Guest of " approach since they are paying individually. I thought I might try setting up Participant Types of Foursome One, Foursome Two, etc.

I know I could use the Seating Plan to establish groups of 4, but I'd like to avoid that approach, if possible.

How did you solve your foursome grouping problem?

I use the seating chart to group the foursomes that pay individually... I don't know if you can see them that way on the participant screen.

Also I'd highly suggest NOT using onesome- twosome etc in your participant type.

I set up the registration site using the BBNC event registration form, although it does not have a "comments" field that is available on a regular donation form. I asked people to please tell us , via hyperlink to an email address, if they were registering separately but wanted to be part of a specific foursome, or if we could assign them to any foursome. We will use the seating plan on Events to set up the foursomes.
