Have any of you who have the prospect module found a way to link the gift to the proposal it is linked to in export? ( I know that sounds ridiculous)
I have tried the system record id off the prospect\proposal with the gift\linked proposal system record id (which I thought would be the system record id of the proposal it is linked to) and after going through a lengthy test with BB chat support was told that the 2 do not match up and are 2 different fields.

I need to create a report that first calculates the amount expected on the proposal for an overall total expected and then whenever a gift comes in on one of these proposals subtract the amount expected of that proposal from the total expected.
I am choosing to do this in access rather then crystal but I am having a hard time figuring out how I can match the 2 up (gift with the linked proposal) so I am not going to be subtracting the wrong proposal.
There are other fields in the linked proposal export off the gift however I am concerned that this would not be enough to ensure I am subtracting the correct proposal.
Any ideas?

No this does not work for what I need to do. I need more information from the proposal then what is available in the gift\linked proposal for my report. I have tried the constituent export with gifts\linked proposal and the prospect\proposal and the 2 system ids available to try to link the gift with the proposal it is linked to and it does not work.

you can do this with SQL through the back end.. i've done it by linking on Proposal Name..which may sound messy, but it works. there isn't a way to do it through access without an ODBC connection or through a standard RE export Crystal report.

what Really needs to happen is for Blackbaud to expose all the proposal fields in the Gifts--Linked Proposal section of the export.

Thank you Elaine for your reply, I should explain that why I think this will not work is that the constituents with their gifts I am exporting have gifts that are not all linked to proposals and even if they are linked to a proposal it may not be a proposal I should be subtracting from the total. I am going to take another stab at this and use the available fields in the gift\linked proposal branch and see if I can identify the proposal (from the prospect\proposal branch) this matches. thanks

Yes, I agree. How can we get them to do that........ Did someone say ideas page??? It has worked so far for a few things I will add the idea - for those of you with the prospect module pleeeease add your vote!!!!!
I have a programmer (who is away on holidays right now.......great!) but I will pass on what you have said and see if she can help me out. She is the only one with access to the back end tables.
