Has anyone figured out how to display the latest gift by fund? When I use that summary field, it is drawing on the latest gift, by constituent in that fund so I'm getting a record for every constituent that gave to the fund instead of the latest activity.
Do you need to do this by query? Are you just interested in the latest gift to a particular fund? You can just open the fund and click on the summary icon (Sigma?) and among other things it will give you the first latest and largest gift.
Does that help?

A maintenance task; it isn't critical but it would be nice to create a list of all funds with the latest gift given to that fund. This way we'd be able to evaluate activity on a global scale rather than by each fund.
Sorry, I thought you were just interested in one fund or just a few. If you want a complete list of all your funds and the last gift in each fund in one report, I'm not sure how to do that.
Seems reasonable that there should be some kind of Comparative Report that you can use.

This is one of those rare occassions where query can be used as a reporting tool. If you do a Fund query, you'll find the Latest gift field available under the Summary for Fund node at the bottom. Just query on whatever funds you want and then add whatever fields you want to see from that gift in the output. That should do it!

Sandy, unfortunately querying that way I end up with multiple results - the latest gift for EACH constituent that has given to that Fund, rather than the latest gift in that fund.
Do you know how to display ONLY the single most recent gift to that fund?
Double check your query TYPE; it must be a fund query for this to work. The latest gift to a fund is a one-to-one relationship, so it can oly display one value for each fund. When you select the latest gift field under the Summary node, it will prompt you for criteria. The simplest thing to do is select a required field (like Gift Amount) with the operator of Not Blank. Unfortunately, you can't add Constituent name to the output. Also keep in mind that because it's a FUND query, you're grouping fund records, not gifts. The reason it doesn't work on a Const. query is because you're querying on the CONSTITUENT'S who latest gift was to a particular fund, which can be many Constituents. More than one donor could have given their latest gift to the same fund. Make sense?
I'm not sure exactly what you need, so if this is not it, let me know exactly what you're looking for and I'll be glad to respond further.
Hope this helps!

I was using Fund queries before, and it was giving me duplicates. I changed the criteria to include the filter you suggested and it pared it down to one per fund. Without the filter I had many per fund which didn't seem to match the purpose of the summary.
Thanks for your help, it worked.
The criteria I used before was simply -
Fund Query
- Summary Field: Latest Gift, Greater than or Equal to $0.00
With the additional filter, it is only 1 per fund.
Unforatunately, the only value you an see off of that latest gift record is the amount. When you add Gift date from the Gift node, it's going to show you any gift date, not just the latest gift date
YUCK! I just checked and you can't even get it in Export-BOO!
