max fields in an export

I am trying to put together a word merge that will serve as a donor profile. I have done this before by creating an export and exporting it as a simple word merge. The simple word merge seems to limit the number of fields that can be exported to a word document. Is there a way to get around this?

I've tried doing a conditional word merge and that also limits the amount of fields. The only other way I am thinking I can create a profile and have it include 60+ fields in the format I've created would be to create a crystal report and run it as a report. I really don't want to do that - basically because I don't know how.

Help?

Have you tried, rather than choosing simple word merge as the export format, choosing character-separated values?

That will give you a text file, usually comma-delimited with quotes as the text qualifier and a carriage return as the record delimiter. I regularly run exports with nearly 200 fields in them and have never had a problem. We used to have a constituent profile made up in Word that had about 55 fields, and it also didn't choke, either in Word or in RE.

What I'm saying, I guess, is have you tried not using the letters function of RE, but rather just using the export to create a data file, that you can then use as a mailmerge data source in Word outside of RE?

Thanks for your help. That certainly is an option. It is an additional step though, and I had really hoped that I could find a way to get access to more fields in the word format.
