I have been asked to export all my data from Blackbaud version 6 which we still use to another program purchased by our organization.
Has anyone done this and if so where do you start.
The new software programmers want me to get the data out of Blackbaud and into Excel or Access so they can look at it to convert it and I don't know where to start. We simply couldn't afford the fees with Blackbaud anymore or we would keep it. It is a great program.
If anyone can give me some advice on how to export my Blackbaud data into Excel, please let me know.
A very very BASIC scenario:
1. Map data from RE to the New System (NS)
2. Create a constituent export & export to access.
2.A Clean any data Mr. vs Mister vs Mr
3. Import Constituent data to NS.
Do this for each record type you have. Also, how does the new system handle relationships, soft credits etc? The answers to those questions would drive how you export the data as linking id's become very critical thing.
If you do use Access to clean up the data, it's easy to export the tables into excel.
email, post or PM if you need.
Good Luck!
Elaine
