Question about importing solicit codes

I am getting ready to import some solicit code updates into our system and I wanted to check on the action of importing these.

I have read the KB article related to importing solicit codes but it does not cover if it overwrites or duplicates solicit codes.

Does anyone have experience with this?

If I import a new solicit code of Phone-stop solicitation code to John Smith's record, will it overwrite his current code of Mail - Magazine Only?

If I import a new solicit code of Phone-stop solicitation code to John Smith's record, will it duplicate his current code of Phone Stop Only? This is unlikely but occasionally we will get an update through 2 sources and this could happen.

I was trying to create a case through blackbaud but the case central gives me an awesome error of:

An error occurred during processing on 10/4/2007 12:00:00 AM at 1:49 PM.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Anyone have an answer or having the same problem on blackbaud's site?

Each solicit code has it's own record ID so I believe that the only way to overwrite the existing solicit codes would be if you could import that exact record ID. I am not even sure if this is possible the way import is set up for solicit codes so I think you are safe. The best way to know for sure is to do a test import on 1 or 2 records creating the 2 scenarios you have and see what happens.

Thanks for the advice. I just tested it and it does not overwrite other codes, nor will it duplicate.

I guess I should have just tested in the first place.

No problem. We all need reminders once in a while.
