Import problem with using Excel 2003

I wonder if anyone can help me. I have just started using RE and am trying to do an import into RE using Excel 2003. I have been given a spreadsheet with various different address columns which I have tried to amalgamate into 1 address column using the formula e.g. "&K2&"/n"&L2&"/n etc etc. The formula works fine in the spreadsheet and creates a nice column with all the lines of the address separated by /n, but obviously to get the actual text rather than the formulas as cell content I thought I could cut and paste the relevant column into another Excel doc and then paste them back as text. This works fine when my boss does it in Excel. 2002, but won't work for either of us in Excel. 2003, where it throws up a strange reference to the original spreadsheet (e.g. ='[Extra name List test_MR_CONS.xls]Sheet1'!K2&"/n"&'[Extra name List test_MR_CONS.xls]Sheet1'!L2). Does anyone have a solution or workaround for this issue?

You need to use paste special and then paste in the values. This will place the text results of the formula as opposed to the formula.

Thanks

Thanks Nora, that has worked perfectly, so now I can get on with the business of learning how to import using our test database. Your help was greatly appreaciated.

Don't forget that .CSV is the preferred method of saving in Excel for importing into RE

also there's no reason to take it out to another sheet and bring it back in to yours. Just highlight, hit copy, and then paste special right in place.
