We recently purchased a new ticketing system (siriusware) which will generate a membership card with a barcode number. This barcode number will NOT match our constituent ID in Raiser's Edge. We are trying to think of an appropriate place to save this number in RE so that it can be easily searched for and pulled/exported/etc.

We are were thinking of saving it under the Social Security Number section of Bio 1 (as we do not use this section). Any thoughts?

We have done that for years, and renamed the SSN with the name of our ticketing software.

The only issue you might find with it is that as of ... I think one of the 7.8x releases, there are a couple of security measures taken on the SSN field. For instance, when you export it, the default is that it will export all Xs except for the last four numbers. You can still query on the full field, and see it in a record, but that's how it exports. I'm not sure if there's a way around this since I don't work with that aspect of our database interfaces that much, but it's something to watch out for.
