Help! I have been tasked with developing Prospect Researching for our office (we are small, 6 staff total). I was just told today that I need to submit a prosed budget for researching. I am trying to get a ballpark figure for what you guys think the basic subscription resources might cost. I am planning on budgeting to travel to the APRA New Researchers symposium in Denver, and some money for books.
I have never had responsibility for developing a budget and am not sure how to go about it when I do not have an old one to build off.
I understand the it will depend on how much is available but I would like to ask for amount that is likely to cover the most important expenses I am likely to need for the year.

Hi Katrina,
Depending on what sorts of prospects you'll be researching, you may want to consider some power tools that allow searching of both individuals and organizations. Those can run anywhere from $2,500 and up per subscription.

Hi Katrina,
I see this is an older posting, so you may have already had your question answered. Blackbaud has a product called WealthPoint, which you probably have looked into. I'm sure your account rep can give you a quote for one-year, then you can come back here & see if anybody has had experience with it.
