Publishing Donor Info on the Web

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this question or not....

For those of you who ARE publishing your newsletters & annual reports on your websites (especially hospital foundations), what kind of feedback have you gotten from donors? There's a feeling here that our donors would not want their listings on the world wide web for international eyes to see...is this something you've experienced?
What is the real benefit of having these publications online - does anyone actually read them?

I'd appreciate comments & specific reasons why you did/did not make this decision.

Thanks!

At my old job we published all of that stuff on line & our donors didn't seem to mind or didn't know. It was done because it was always done that way & everybody else did it. Although, that was the rationale for a lot of stuff there. Also, at my old job we used to have to look at competitors on-line donor listings & then try to find addresses for their big donors so we could solicit them.

Here, I'm not responsible for that at all so I have no idea what or why anything is done related to annual report/newsletters.

In my opinion it doens't seem to be a big deal one way or another. I wouldn't really care if my name was posted or not, but some major donors might not appreciate the added publicity. Perhaps that could be something donors are asked about when making their gits.

We list our annual report as a whole document on our website and we've never had anyone complain about that. But perhaps hospitals take a different view on that? I wouldn't think it would make any difference if you're printing hard copies of the annual report.
