Rep Power: 3 | Post-Dated Checks (US policy) Hi
Can anyone give me the legal policy regarding post-dated checks in the US? I vaguely recall someone either here, or at the BB forum stating that the date on post-dated checks doesn't matter - the checks are legally cashable when received whether they are post-dated or not??
Can you tell me where I could find the official law or whatever? Or a link to somewhere?
I'm in Canada, and here, we have to respect the date - i.e. we cannot cash a cheque/check before the check date. Banks are supposed to return those cheques to us if we cash them "early", but who checks these days?
Thanks in advance!
