I'm heading to the five-day regional training on RE (Essentials Part I and II) next week. We are converting from Giftmaker Pro to RE, with a target date of July 1. This has been an eight-month process thus far, so I am anxious to complete it (correctly) and start using RE.
I would love to hear any advice/comments current RE users (especially those who converted from GMP) have regarding the regional training process. Any items you found especially helpful? Any items you found NOT helpful? Were there things learned that needed tweaked for the real world?
I'm basically the point person/architect of our database system. We're using this change as an opportunity to bring our department and the Department of Finance more in line with each other in coding and reporting. I am also responsible for training the rest of the staff on how to use RE. I'm the only heavy-duty user at this time- the rest of them will mostly use it in view-only, with the exception of my data entry volunteers.
Thanks in advance for any response. I've already learned quite a bit by lurking here!
Make sure that they run you through scenarios and not just talk about
the conversion. Talk to them in advance so they bring a giftmaker
database install with them.
