What is the policy at other organizations regarding acquisition mailings? Recieved a phone call today from a woman who wanted to from which list we got her name. Other places I've worked stated we could never divulge the information.. My current work place does not have a policy on this. First time since I've been here that it's come up as well. So I dont know if my inability to divulge this info in the past was due to confidentiality clauses or just our preference as an organiation..

Oh, how it all differs "over the pond". In the UK, you would not only be able to divulge this info - you would be breaking the law, and subject to a potentially unlimited fine, if you refused to do so (though you could charge a fee of up to £10).

Not much help to you, I know, but an interesting example of what very different regulatory environments we operate under.

We definitely give the person the name of the organization from whom we got their name. Saves a lot of frustration.
