The University of Glasgow is in the process of adopting a new Student Record System and we'd be interested to know about other UK Uni's student record systems and how easily they integrate with Raiser's Edge:

• What systems are you using?
• Were they developed in-house or did you use external developers?
• How easily does your system dove-tail with RE?
• How do you transfer/ share information from your Student Records to RE?
• If you could change or improve anything about the transfer of data from your student records to RE what would it be?

Hi James,

Our student records are all kept on SITS which we export on a yearly basis onto RE. We export the student info over at the start of the year and then after graduation we update the affected students, change them to alum and record what their degrees were.
The exports are never easy as there is a lot of mopping up to do (ie 1 person might have 3 address lines , then their age in the 4th column and then a 2nd person might have 1 address line and their age would appear in the 2nd column.) However, I would imagine that this is all down to how they enter data in the registry.

The actual transfer is done by exporting from SITS into a csv and then importing this into RE using the import feature.

I suppose if I could change improve anything it would be to design my import for Raiser's Edge and then have a custom export from SITS so that I could get what I wanted at the click of a button.
