I was forwarded an email from MMCCanada that is offering Raiser's Edge Training. They say they have combined the 5 day RE Essentials I and II into a 3 day course. They charge $1,300 instead of Blackbaud's maintenance cost of $2,750.
This may sound like a real good deal but I would like to talk with a seasoned RE user who has used them. If they gloss over things like queries or mail merges I would not be interested.
Thanks

It's run by Laura MArziali. The org I am about to leave hired her in
2005 for our initial RE7 training. She's good
I did some sub-contracting with her until I realized full time job +
family + contracting = crazy.
I can safely recommend her Since she's Canadian you know that she
is above reproach Actually she;s just probably trying to get to
Florida. It's freaking cold here today

-45 F (-43 C) for 4 days running, and no relief in site... There's a couple pictures attached here that a co-worker took from our window...
BTW, the temperatures on the pictures were from on campus, which is on a hill... There have been reports of -70 degree temperatures not far from here... And the fog isn't fog like you guys know, its ice fog, caused by the exhaust from cars/buses/trucks/heaters/etc...

Don't you know that MMCCanada stands for M-Mighty Cold Canada? Or is that MCCCanada Mighty C-Cold Canada??
Doug and Peter, you have my sympathy.
Michael, are you trying to make those of us experiencing "winter" jealous? If so, you have succeeded with those lovely photos.
Maybe you should arrange for your training at MMCCanada in Toronto, where they are located - then you'll find out if it makes a difference if it's -20 or -45!! Ha ha.
Ah, only 6 weeks til spring (by the calendar, anyway).
Cheers all

Just so you know Michael, I'm sending a heartfelt long distance kick in your direction...
AND there is a huge difference between -40 and -20... One I can go outside in a light coat without gloves and stuff on (but with me!), the other I actually have to bundle up for...

I am right down the road from Michael - I moved here from New York 2 years ago - FOR A REASON!!!! And we see snow all the time here!!! That's right - every time you get snow, we get photosin our local paper of people chipping ice or shovelling out their cars . That is all the snow I will ever need to see.
We actually have an event for our kids called Snow Fest - we "import" mounds of snow (actually it's chipped ice but these folks don't know any better) and people pay $8 per kid to go get cold and wet for a few minutes. We have other stuff for them to play on - inflateables and such. I have never seen so many kids walking around with cold wet britches and NOT complaining!

Andrea, you reminded me of similar (imported) snow days.
I'm living in -40 now and again these days (just south of Peter) in Red Deer, Alberta.
But, I grew up in southern California, and I kid you not: as a boy, a friend and I on several occasions begged said friend's dad to drive us up to the closest mountain with snow possibilities (Mt. Baldy) where we shoveled the snow into the back of the pickup truck until it was full.
Then, after the 1 1/2 hour drive back home we would dump it on the front lawn and quickly enjoy the winter wonderland before it melted.
Go figure I grew up in the place where the idea of Disneyland was born out.
Oh - it was wicked cold here this morning!!! 58!!! I had to wear a jacket!
My favorite is when we have our one or two days of winter where the temperature stays around 60. Everybody is wearing their Uggs or other fur-lined boots, parkas, gloves, and those silly knit hats with the earflaps and strings and I am wearing a denim jacket and sandals....
