Hello,

Does anyone out there using RE-7 also use the Great Plains Accounting program? We are having issues with the Accounting Department not wanting to give us access/integration. As of now I am posting to nothing and giving Accounting copies of my transactions. I really could use some input on this.

We use Great Plains, have since before we converted to RE almost 6 years ago. We have never had any kind of link. I send the finance department a detailed report every month that includes all gifts received year-to-date and they reconcile it on their end. If there are discrepancies they call us and we figure it out.

We use Great Plains and send the business office a file every day of our gifts and they do a manual summary load, I think. We are working on automating it or to use the integration manager better, but I haven't been involved yet.

I used Great Plains back before it became whatever they call it today - and I've been a bookkeeper for 20+ years.

There are actually advantages to keeping yourself separate; we think of RE as a glorified receipt book that is used to help us raise funds and track donors and acknowledgements. We don't post anything to anywhere, and we send our info via reports to our Finance dept.

How *we* want to keep this information, and what *Finance* needs are not always exactly the same thing, and Finance couldn't care less about Campaigns or Appeals either.

Just saying - there are worse things to sweat, relatively speaking.
