Accessing RE data through a Blackberry/PDA/mobile device

Has anyone had any experience or even looed at a way of accessing the data in RE through some kind of custom interface for a mobile device?

I've been asked to look into this.

Any thoughts would be appreciated...

I haven't looked at it, but it really depends on how much functionality you want.

I know that Documents to Go for the Palm OS supports Excel, Word, PDF, and Access files. Since you can export from RE to any of these formats, you could easily take that file and load it on the PDA. These would allow for a one-way port to your PDA. If you wanted two-way, you would probably want to investigate some other route, or possibly even programming something yourself.

I don't have any experience with Windows CE or the Blackberry OS, so I don't know what is available for them. I would assume that there is at least some support for the MS Office documents on Windows CE. It would probably also be a little easier to custom program something for use with Windows CE.

When I was using Millennium, they demonstrated a version of Millennium for the Palm a couple of times. I'm not sure that they ever got it to a state where it could be released, before I left that job. That utility was taking information from SQL Server and porting it to a Palm, so I know that it is possible.

I want to see if I can renew interest in the post and see if anyone has heard anything new about Peter's question. We've just started use Windows Mobile devices here & I've recently been asked if it will someday be possible to access RE data from it. I put a case into BB to see if they're considering it, but I'd love to hear from this group too. Thanks.

bumpity bump. Anyone using RE and a Blackberry?

The only path so far is:

Blackberry > Outlook > RE

then

RE > Outlook > Blackberry.

Messy. No fun.

Are you looking to access RE for look-up only or for data entry? I have a Windows Moblile device and have had success using Queue to email me daily and weekly reports of data I frequently need to review.

Is there a Citrix solution for blackberries? Perhaps that might be an option? Or is this overkill?

Our director was interested in looking up records, not data entry.

I do think the Queue module would be pretty cool, but of course that's more $$$
