Angry Am I the only one?

I can't be the only one, can I, with this problem?
ever since we went to vista/office pro 2007, i've been stymied in my efforts to create actions from things in my outlook mailbox. (sometimes too things created from RE into word/outlook, but i do this far less often, so not my focus).

IF I close RE, close outlook, restart my computer, i can open outlook, open an email, hit the add-ins tab and create action and RE will open and let me create an action to a constituent.

If i try and open another email and do the same, it just sits there, doing nothing. the only solution to doing more than one is to again shut everything down and restart my computer.

as you can imagine, this is a major pain. blackbaud said that the latest update was going to fix the problem, but it didn't. they said sometimes it happens to folks, others have no problems, they're looking into it and hope to have it solved while we're still in 2007. Of course, this is unacceptable.

Did anyone else encounter this problem? figure a way to work around it while waiting for h*** to freeze over, or blackbaud to fix the problem? this is driving me nuts, and not doing happy things for my workflow....

We don't use outlook, so I can't test your scenario here...however we had a similiar thing happen when processing letters;

We found a "pop up" window generated by Word was lurking in the background waiting for us to click "ok". Our work-around was to click the alt-tab combintion until we found the pop up window - click ok and then let Word do it's thing.

This is only occurring on workstations with Vista & Office 2007.

How & Why

How did you get your users through the learning curve of Office 2007 and what possible reasons could you have had for moving to Vista. I know this doesnt help with your problem, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. There are a couple of nice features in Office '07, and a couple of pathetic mistakes, but Vista??

I would actuallyside with BB here a bit. It takes time to rework code for a new OS, esp one that comes with as unqualified a THUMP as Vista did...

"Office 2003 - Mainstream support will end on January 13, 2009. Extended support will end at January 14, 2014."

And based on the number of klarge companies that are NOT currently upgrading to 2007 due to the extreme learning curve, these dates will be extended, IMO.

Office 2007 does have its good points. The Excel dupes feature is amazing, but even I, as an IT guy, still find the suite painfull unintuitive, esp since no other program in existence is using this format of menus or is planning too...
