Question Word 2007 merge from Crystal Reports

We have recently installed Office 2007 and I am having a problem with letters created from a Word 2007 merge with an Excel spread sheet created from Crystal Reports. Crystal exports the data with formating (i.e. currency or date) but it is stripped when it get to Word through the merge process. I can't seem to find a place to format fields as they are merged in Word.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

I had the same problem trying to merge to Word 2007 from an Excel spreadsheet. While the spreadsheet had a date field formatted long - i.e. August 8, 2007, the merge field read 8/8/07. Likewise I was importing a currency field that in Exel had the $ sign and two decimals - $200.00, the word doc just had the whole number - 200. I think it is just another one of those real wonderful and fun things about 2007 (it's driving me nuts!!!!!!!!)

Go to the knowledgebase article How to use the Mail Merge feature in Word to create and to print form letters that use the data from an Excel worksheet and scroll down to the section labelled "Format by Using Field Codes."

In switching to Office 07 I am having the same problem with the currency when doing a merge to Word - it only generates the number and removes the dollar sign and decimal point and the zeros after it. This happens when merging letters/pledge reminders from the Mail merge wizard too, so it is not just a problem having to do with merging from exel. I checked my fields and they are set properly for the currency format. For some reason it works okay with the currency in generating donor acknowledgement letters, so I am really confused about where the problem lies.

I actually had this problem with 2003 so I'm not sure what version you went from but this may help.

I use the DDE option and it works like a charm.

Thanks, Melissa! I worked on the field codes in Word within the merge document using the link you posted http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/wo...CL100636481033 and it fixed the problem - a good work-around.
