So I am at my new job, and have been handed a Raiser's Edge DB that might not have been kept up with best practices. I am trying to run a constituent query and output email address.

Currently we are keeping track of email addresses in the bio1 tab not the addresses tab.

what filter/output field can i select to see the constituents email addresses?

This is a very basic operation, thanks for your help and comments.

Phone types reside with the addresses whether you see them on the Bio1 tab or not. So, you need to make your selection from: Addresses, All Addresses, Phone type= email (or whatever it is your org. calls it)

RE stores emails as phones, if you enter them the way Blackbaud intended. I suppose it would be possible to put emails in various other places (attributes, maybe?), but I think that's uncommon.

You'll get much cleaner results if you export from Export, and not QUery. Query is designed to be a grouping tool,not a reporting tool. You'll have MUCH more control over what comes out i you do it from Export. Query on whatever you're criteria are (for example, Phone type is one of <list your phone types that track email>). Then base your Export on that query to pull each specific email phone type.
