Consolidated receipts not working

I have been working with Blackbaud over the past two weeks to try to produce my consolidated receipts for monthly donors.

When I try to generate the output file to send off to my mailing house I am getting the message "Automation Error". As I said Blackbaud have been working on this now for about two weeks and are telling me that a patch is in the works for this issue. I have to believe that there are others out there who are trying to achieve the same thing a we are.

Is there anyone else who has seen this problem and if so have you been able to resolve it?

Is there anyone out there who has done consolidated receipts and NOT had this problem?

We are running RE v7.82.1514.5

Hi

I have done consolidated receipts and have not had that problem.

However, we do the receipts in house through Mail, so it's unlikely I'd be of much help. We are also only on 7.81.... I wonder if 7.82 has some glitch in it.

What procedure exactly is giving you the problem? Sounds like you're doing an Export, if you are sending to a mailing house.

There are definite "bugs" in the whole concept of Consolidated Receipts as far as I am concerned. I've had to dream up a few work-arounds in order to get what I wanted.

I think there are so few RE users trying to generate a consolidated receipt that there isn't much incentive to make the process work better.

Please post any solutions BB comes up with - I'd be most interested.

We've had issues with Mail Merging within RE in general (design of embedded Word templates going wonky), so I've worked together with our donations officer to build-up our own mail merge arrangement external to RE (using export files as the connection to the RE data).

Anyway, the most recent custom component I developed has been a consolidated gifts receipt letters utility.

It doesn't fix any the problems you're having within RE, but it may be useful as a tool to you or someone here on the BUS:

Thanks for the feedback Anne Marie.

We have for years done consolidated receipts without any problems but there is some confluence of software version, data and whatever that is causing grief this year. We are having no problem with our one time gift receipt production.

The problem occurs almost immediately when I select process receipts and I get the error box that says simply "Automation Error" and my only choice is OK which kicks me back to RE.

Anyhow. I'll keep you informed as to progress with BB.
