Outputting email address for mailing

I currently use quick letters to generate a data file for our appeal mailings. There are usually 23 packages in one appeal so I use the segment tab. I output constit id, addressee, salutation, address block, and package id. All of these fields are printed on the reply card. The manager who oversees these mailings wants to also start including the email address in the output so that it can be printed on the reply card too, thus allowing people to see what we have on file and give us an updated email address if needed.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to get the email address into the data file that is generated through quick letters? Maybe my brain is still recuperating from year end gift processing but right now my thinking is that I'd have to output the email address separately and then paste them into the master data file. Yuck!

When Mail has been unable to export a field that I need in my mailing I ususally wind up doing a 2 step process.

1) use quick letters to segment the appeal and assign appeals/packages to the records. My export file contains only ID, Appeal ID & Package and I delete it later.

2) use a query of those records that were assigned the appeal in step 1 (either the output queries or a basic query with Appeal ID as the criteria) and use export to get your real data file for the mailing.

Oops it submitted while I was still typing

Note: make sure you check the number in your original export file against your query and final output file. On some versions I have occasionally had an issue where the non HOH was assigned the appeal even when I used HOH options. As long as you use the HOH options in your final export it all should come back to the original number
