This is a campaign for people to vote on the Idea that is currently labeled as "Marked as Receipted". I would like to expand that Idea to cover the fact that, when we want to edit an existing receipt letter, or add a new receipt letter, we have no choice but to use up a receipt number. Even if you do choose No when asked to Mark as Receipted, the receipt number is generated. We often update our receipt letters and I have had to keep track of the "false" receipt numbers I generate (I have a fake constituent called Edit R. Letter, and I use a false gift on that record when editing receipt letters.) Also, we have to run the edited letter through the "finish" cylcle, in order for any of the changes to stay in the word merge document. All in all, a very archaic way of working in what is supposed to be a high end program.

I absolutely hate the fact that you have to finish the cycle in order for the change to be kept. This is very disconcerting when you just need to make a change and are using a fake record to get to the letters and gthink that Save and return to RE actually SAVES the changes.

I know there is an idea for moving the "mark as acknowledged" and "mark as receipted" to the end of hte process. Do we need a separate idea for actually saving the changes without completing the process?

Since that was my suggestion, way back in the Add ME to the List days, thanks for reviving the Idea!!

The process still drives me batty - ie. having to repeat the generation of receipts before marking them as receipted.

I want to look at the receipt/acknowledgement/thank you BEFORE I mark them as receipted. I do not want to mark them receipted before at least checking to be sure everything is correct!!

Isn't that the logical way of doing things? Check them before finalizing??? Oops forgot - logic isn't always involved in the RE way of things (sorry Blackbaud, tis my opinion).
