Question Mail Processing/Export Question

This may be a simple question, but I can't seem to figure/ find out the answer.

I am finding that a number of our organization records have a relationship with <None Specified> in the last name field. These individual relationship records have 'Do not mail to this contact' checked off on their records. And when I tried to export the organization's mailing information the addresses were dropped even though 'Send mail to this address' is checked off on Bio 1's more tab. A couple of questions around this:
  1. What could cause an address to be dropped given the above scenario? (Export looks good with the address processing.)
  2. How did a <None Specified> get into these last names field? We converted from Fundmaster to RE ver. 6 in 2000. Converted to RE ver. 7 last January. Does anyone know where this might have come from?
Thanks so much!

Do not mail to this contact means exactly as it says and RE uses that field when exporting from Mail. Export does not use the same features as mail and it would probably be included in Export.

When did you notice the <none specified> in the database in 2000 or last year? This may have been what was imported when you first populated RE. It is hard to tell without knowing more.

I never noticed the <None Specified> in ver. 6. But then again, I feel like I am still doing clean up from the our first conversion!

In version 6, Contact Last Name was not a required field; it is required in version 7. During the conversion process, they used <None specified> when the last name was missing. This is also the case for Primary Business Organization Name. If that field was empty during the conversion, you'll see <None specified> in that field also. Spouse Last Name is another field that is required in Version 7, but wasn't required before. These are the major fields that I remember causing problems in the conversion from 6 to 7.
