I have several acknowledgement letters set up in MAIL, and I save the merged Word docs up on our server. The problem is that every time I run one of these merges, RE keeps asking me where to save the merged Word doc, and stupidly defaults to C:\My Documents instead of saving the server location which I dutifully type in each and every time.
Does anyone know if this is the correct behavior? Or should it be saving the server file location, and I'm just doing it wrong?

Try going to Tools > User Options > File Locations > Word Processing Documents/Letters and setting the correct path there.

Drew is correct. And remember that this location is user defined so anyone else who uses MAIL will have their letters go to their default which may be different from yours.
Also remember that this is now the default location for all letters - you can't set up a default location for a specific mail run (although I wish you could - Hello Blackbaud!) so picking a location is sometimes not as easy as the location of all you letters. It may be the location of your most commonly used letters or one file up from where you need to go.
Thank you both. I admit I just assumed that each Mail run 'remembered' its own location because that's the way I'd program it. Silly me, thinking again when I should just be a dumb, happy User.
