Understanding the Culture of Technology in Schools
Session Level: Beginner
Speaker:Dollye Evans
Session Description: Have you ever left a software training session and realized you spent the whole session in a trance? Is your new database system the cause of many unbearable user meetings? Do you find that technical words sound so confusing that you avoid communicating with your tech support professionals, even when you really need their help? Despite the need for organizational change, many independent schools making the move to advanced technology do not understand its culture. Fear of technology can impede the successful implementation of any information system, resulting in excessive time and money spent in order to correct simple problems. This session is designed to help you familiarize yourself with technical terms commonly used in a technology environment and help modify technophobic behavior so you will be able to communicate ideas and share information within your school.
