The VMI Foundation, Inc. is establishing a new position of Director of Advancement Services to lead our efforts to integrate technology more fully into our business in support of the Virginia Military Institute's ambitious plans for the future as we look ahead to our 200th anniversary. The successful candidate, who will be fully integrated into the Foundation's advancement team and report directly to the Executive Vice President of the VMI Foundation Inc. will supervise a staff of seven that supports athletic and non-athletic fundraising as well as alumni services. The Director of Advancement Services will be responsible for oversight and support of the alumni/development management systems (Raiser's Edge, Financial Edge, Information Edge, NetCommunity, Crescendo, and related modules) including oversight of: gift processing, tracking, and management; data management and integrity; report management; prospect research and tracking; computer systems administration; and application management and training. The Director will also be responsible for providing for system training and documentation; assisting in developing and maintaining the plan for system security; managing and maintaining biographic and gift data on VMI alumni and friends; developing and implementing policies and procedures for quality data entry, timely and accurate gift receipting, acknowledgements, pledge reminders and other related processes; producing key reports, data, statistics and analysis in support of fund-raising and alumni activities. The director serves as the primary liaison with all user groups on technical matters; coordinates and prepares annual computer equipment budget requests; implements and promotes a customer service philosophy among the systems staff; oversees on-site troubleshooting of software and hardware concerns; and assesses information services requirements and acts as principal liaison with vendors for implementation and support. Qualifications: Experience managing information systems with a Bachelor's degree in a related academic field; Master's degree preferred. Experience in advancement services, managing a development information management system, and two year's experience with Raiser's Edge in a non-profit setting are required. Experience with the entire suite of Microsoft products is required. The candidate must be competent in the management of hardware and communications systems and a technical staff. Knowledge and experience in relational databases and Crystal reporting languages preferred. Must have a proven track record of successful information management to include gift and research management and web presence The applicant must have demonstrated logical and analytical skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, previous supervisory experiences, and the ability to manage and motivate a staff.
