RESPONSIBILITIES: The Information and Data Services Specialist is responsible for fulfilling the day-to-day database information needs for University Advancement and other Marquette University staff. The Information and Data Services Specialist assists the Manager of Information and Data Services in the work related to the timely production of reports related to requests for information, including work to maintain the integrity of data in the advancement database. The Information and Data Services Specialist is responsible for responding to requests for information from University Advancement and other Marquette University staff. This position is also responsible for maintaining a record of information requests. Specific duties include: • Fulfill the day-to-day database information needs for University Advancement and other Marquette University staff • Process requests for information • Confer with requestors regarding requests for information and data • Confirm quality of mailing data provided to external mailing services • Participate in team efforts to design and deliver end user report formats and functionality • Use Crystal Reports and other software tools to create reports in support of the database • Assist in the maintenance of training and procedural documentation • Maintain continual involvement in process improvement efforts for enhanced customer service • Communicate with customers and peers verbally and in writing in a timely, supporting and informative manner • Maintain complete and current knowledge of the files, fields and structure of the database • Maintenance of database and data entry, as needed QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or database management; One to three years of related experience preferable, with progressively responsible work with programming and reporting, working with complex relational databases; Prior experience in a not-for-profit institutional advancement setting a plus. Requires prior experience with Crystal Reports and Microsoft Access; Strong problem solving and organizational skills; Strong attention to detail; Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in editing, spelling and grammar; Ability to exercise independent initiative as appropriate; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with a variety of people in a team emphasized environment; Must possess accurate and efficient data entry and word processing skills; Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel; Ability to supervise student workers; Ability to maintain confidentiality; Ability to meet multiple priorities under strict deadlines.
