Database Manager for Hillel at Columbia University and Barnard College Job Description: Columbia/Barnard Hillel is a private, not-for-profit organization that serves as the center for Jewish campus life at Columbia University and Barnard College. We are currently seeking a Database Manager for our Development Department. Reporting to the Director of Development, this individual will be responsible for organizing and directing the Department?s data processing operations and will serve as an integral member of the Department. Job Responsibilities Database Management - Reviews and updates database system to reflect the needs of the growing department and fundraising campaign. Identifies, troubleshoots and resolves database challenges. - Develops and implements maintenance procedures for de-duping and data clean-up as well as the linking of records. Will also coordinate database entry. - Provides general reports, lists, queries, and templates for organizational usage. Recommends new fields and applications of database as well as revisions to current hardware and software configurations. - Will explore a possible migration from existing software to alternative applications. - Trains staff in the use of donor software on as-needed basis and creates documentation for how to effectively use the system. - Creates a system by which donor software houses all information connected to donors and alumni and their relationship to Columbia/Barnard Hillel. Acts as a liaison with other departments on data acquisition and ensuring that the donor database is coordinated with student database and the accounting software. Other Responsibilities: - Gift Acknowledgements: In addition to the entering of gifts into the system, will ensure donors receive timely acknowledgements for contributions. - Development Communications: Assist in the creation and dissemination of direct mail solicitations, phonathons and e-newsletters, with primary emphasis on the data preparation required for these activities. - Event Management: Supports the organization?s annual dinner as well as other fundraising events throughout the year. Qualifications: - Detail oriented with an ability to handle sensitive donor information. - Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. - Experience in a Development Office with fundraising software such as Donor Perfect or Raiser?s Edge. - Ability to multi-task and work in a team oriented environment. - Strong communication skills. - BA degree or equivalent work experience.
