Position Relationships Reports To: Senior Director, Development RMHC-CNI Position Titles Directly Supervised: None II. General Summary The Manager, Database Services requires technical expertise in the areas of client/server technology, Windows software development, database architecture, as well as fund-raising software and the operational needs these technologies serve. He or she will be the steward of data services as they pertain to the processing of gifts, the reckoning of gift data, and the processing of information acquired from outside sources that will be used for specific fund-raising enterprises. The latter includes the study of external lists and proposed strategies for the maintenance and incorporation of demographic data. He or she will be responsible for servicing all technical needs related to the maintenance and processing of gifts, and will be instrumental in the development of current and future systems for such. III. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Position is to manage the creation and report on the contents of restricted and unrestricted philanthropic funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana. 1. To oversee the transfer of funds between RMHC-CNI and those doing third party events and develop/maintain and electronic reconciliation program with Finance. 2. To develop and maintain a system for the accurate tracking of philanthropic bequests that cannot be tracked as actual gifts in the development software. 3. To regularly produce statistical reports on donor activity. These reports will include monthly philanthropy tallies for presentation to RMHC-CNI Board leadership. 4. To work with leadership administrators at Caring Partners and Third Party events in the regular acquisition of internal lists that require maintenance and updating, such as Foundation Boards, Executive Leadership, Executive Cabinet, Leadership Council, community leaders. 5. To directly counsel the office manager on list cleaning and maintenance and to guarantee parallelism and quality in all electronic lists maintained at the charity. 6. To generate address files for in-house mailings and massage lists acquired from outside sources for use in Charity appeals. The latter will require a knowledge of programming and database manipulation. 7. To report to staff members responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of giving clubs on the status or progress of these donor constituencies. 8. To report to staff members responsible for special events on the status or progress of these events. 9. To assist in the development of teaching curricula for the standardization and usage of development software; to train staff members on new software packages and evolving IS processes. To develop and implement a program of technical support for the charity; to act as primary support to staff members experiencing specific development-software problems. IV. Working Conditions May sit for extended periods of time. Extensive use of software programs/ keyboard. Requires moderate lifting/moving of computer equipment. Some local travel between Business Units. V. Education and Experience Required 1. A minimum of three year’s experience working with developmental software and database systems. 2. Broad experience with computer modeling, particularly as it pertains to the analysis and implementation of complex processes. 3. Have worked with the Raiser’s Edge software for a minimum of two years. 4. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. VI. Skills and Abilities Required 1. Highly advanced knowledge of Windows software development, client/server applications, dynamic data exchange and database architecture. 2. Expert knowledge of operational processes in a fund-raising environment. 3. Excellent planning and organizational skills. 5. Must be able to handle multiple projects and tasks at the same time with minimal or no supervision. 6. Strong problem identification and solution skills. 7. Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines and extreme stress with unfailing level of accuracy. 8. Ability to work independently.
