Basic Purpose: Manage the daily operations of the UUA Legacy Gifts Office. Provide information and assistance to prospective donors and the public. Contribute to the successful completion of comprehensive campaign by securing new planned gifts for the benefit of the Unitarian Universalist Association, our congregations, and other UU entities. Manage relationships with allied professionals. Provide and manage administrative support for all aspects of the fundraising program, including the supervision of assistant(s) and/or temporary staff assigned to the Legacy Gifts program.
Principal Responsibilities
1.Donor cultivation and solicitation for planned giving: Prepare detailed proposals for planned gifts for specific donors at the request of Gift Officers. Assist Gift Officers in presentation of proposals. Coordinate resources for consultation during solicitation of complex gifts such as charitable remainder trusts, IRA distributions, partnership shares, real property, and hard-to-value assets.
2.Gift processing: Work closely with donors, bankers, UUA Financial Services and other staff, and affiliated UU entities to complete and manage planned gifts. Ensure timely, accurate, and complete planned gift data entry into Raisers Edge.
3.Management: Plan, coordinate and implement all Legacy Gifts Office operations, including financial record keeping and reporting. Track progress, handle enrollment and information forms, manage asset transfers, prepare gift agreements/contracts, and manage correspondence. Track program budget and income from estates and matured life income vehicles.
4.Donor relations: Act as the first line of contact to explain and administer existing planned gifts to donors, their families, and their financial advisors. Work collaboratively with Gift Officers when receiving proposal requests or gifts from repeat donors. Serve as moderator of the UU Planned Giving Listserv.
5.Legacy Gift marketing programs: Coordinate donor-relations marketing and communication design and implementation for outreach to existing and potential Legacy donors. Provide materials, and in conjunction with Congregational Services, provide advice and guidance to congregations and other UU entities that want to secure planned gifts for their benefit.
6.Subject matter expertise: Keep current with understanding of currently popular and tax-advantageous gifts, such as charitable gift annuities, pooled income funds, charitable remainder trusts, IRE direct rollovers, etc.
7.Perform other duties as requested by supervisor or, in his/her absence, the Director of Campaign Finance and Operations, the VP for Stewardship and Development, the Executive Vice President, or the President.

This is an exempt Grade 11 position (entry $42,200; midpoint $53,000). The successful applicant will have at least one year of experience with progressive responsibility in managing the flow of legal documentation and financial record keeping in legal or financial services, preferably in planned giving contexts. In addition, excellent customer service and organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and strong oral and written communication skills are necessary. Travel requirements are estimated at approximately 10% (around 4 weeks per year). Strong basic math skills and top-notch computer skills are required in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook; familiarity with Access, Raisers Edge or comparable database preferred; PowerPoint skills are a plus.
