Job Title: Director of Advancement Services (level 16)
FLSA Status: Exempt
SUMMARY:
The Director of Advancement Services is responsible for the acquisition, storage, and utilization of all data supporting the work of the Office of Advancement. The Director will directly supervise one or more employees and will manage the student workers for the Office of Advancement. The Director leads and sets the agenda and training for the Data Management Team. This position sits on the Administrative Leadership Team in the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manage the development database, The Raiser痴 Edge, with more than 48,000 constituents including alumni, donors, friends, corporations, foundations, churches and other organization records.
Develop policies and procedures to assure the accuracy and quality of constituent information and the conventions and protocols used for data acquisition and storage.
Document all policies and procedures.
Plan and execute the full implementation of the current development database system. Optimize use of its functionalities to support fund-raising and constituent relations goals.
Generate monthly and annual financial reports to monitor, measure and track development goals.
Work with staff to identify their information needs related to annual giving, major gifts, research, prospect management, volunteer services, alumni relations, and other programs.
Work closely with the College痴 Information Services staff to ensure that appropriate information is shared among administrative systems in compliance with industry practice and institutional policy.
Serve as a point of contact for other campus offices needing to communicate with alumni and friends.
Work with Blackbaud, Ruffalo Cody (Campus Call), and other vendors who are creating web-interfaces that collect and/or import data.
2. Support work with the Campus Call database which facilitates our student calling program and any other protocols related to our web interface with our various databases.
Work closely with the Director of the Jewell Fund to be sure the interface with Raiser痴 Edge and Campus Call is working appropriately.
Take responsibility for the process by which records are loaded and retrieved from Campus Call.
3. Manage the integration of the Raiser痴 Edge database with the Office of Advancement internet content management system via the NetCommunity system.
Work closely with Office of Advancement staff to be sure the interface with Raiser痴 Edge and NetCommunity is working appropriately.
Work in an ongoing manner to establish new web-based tools via the NetCommunity content management system.
4. Support Office of Advancement staff by providing appropriate training on The Raiser痴 Edge database.
5. Install and upgrade hardware and software relating to the databases.
6. Set and manage the agenda for the Data Management Team which includes support staff and other staff members as appropriate. Coordinates appropriate training for the data management team that will enhance office productivity.
7. Interview, hire, and train student employees not working in the phonathon program.
Experience:
Baccalaureate degree or higher required.
Three to five years of office related experience with relational databases required.
Experience with the Raiser痴 Edge database preferred.
Demonstrated success in meeting aggressive goals.
Demonstrated success in managing and training others required.
Experience in a comparable goal oriented environment required.
Crystal Reports experience preferred.
Microsoft Excel and/or Access proficiency required.
