Position Description: The Senior Development Associate assists the Development Director and other development staff with the coordination of the activities of the Department with a particular emphasis on administrative duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Works with the Development Director and other staff to assist in ensuring overall success of the Development Department
Provides administrative support to the Development Director and other department staff. This includes, but is not limited to, general department correspondence, preparation of acknowledgments and reports, coordination of internal and external communications.
Provides data base support including data base maintenance and gift entry.
Provides support services to donors, members, prospects and others.
Supports the Development Staff in all administrative functions related to development and fundraising. Including but not limited special events, direct mail, individual, corporate and foundation giving.
Performs all other relevant responsibilities as directed by supervisor
Equipment and Software Knowledge:
General office equipment including network copier, fax machine, postage meter and printers, among others
PC computers and software including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explore, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal communication and writing skills
Knowledge and experience with grassroots membership organizations are highly desirable
Well-organized with a collegial working style
Nonprofit fundraising experience and knowledge of Raisers Edge are preferred for this position
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelorç—´ degree or equivalent experience in the fields of nonprofit fundraising, sales, marketing or communications
Two years experience and demonstrated success in relevant aspects of fundraising
Solid computer experience, including use of the internet and coordination of data bases
Ability to travel and work on weekends
Employment The position is based in the PFLAG National office located in downtown Washington, DC. The position is a full-time salaried position and is included in the membership of the Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local 2, AFL-CIO.
