Web and Database Project Specialist During the next two years the Skirball Cultural Center will be rolling out a new web site and installing new database applications. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work both independently and with other members of the technology and marketing/external affairs teams to update and create web content and to support development and improvement in the Skirball's new and legacy database applications. This is a two year, full-time project position with benefits. The position reports to the Information Technology Director, but also takes direction related to web site content and priorities from the Director of External Affairs and the Marketing Director. Working closely with External Affairs, the specialist will: * Update, maintain, and optimize existing SCC web site using the content management system; ensure that all aspects of the web site are current and meet content and user needs * Interface with web development vendors as necessary * Prepare approved content for web site and e-blast/e-marketing implementation * Design and develop graphical elements, e-mail templates, web pages, flash multimedia projects, and web-based promotions and campaigns as requested by the External Affairs department * Work to develop and improve web content and design * Scope, schedule, and prioritize projects * Implement standards, evaluate functional design, and test usability; report findings and make recommendations for improvements * Advise internal groups on all issues relating to the web * Support the institutional search engine optimization program and provide input based on expertise and research * Effectively manage archiving of appropriate web content Working at the direction of the Information Technology Director, the specialist will: * Provide technical support to SCC databases supporting fundraising, membership, mailing lists, retail, ticketing, museum collections, digital asset management, and event management * Provide report writing and data analysis for SCC databases * Analyze and revise existing database schema and documentation as necessary * Recommend and implement integration of systems through database design * Manage the database to achieve desired performance and reliability results Qualifications: * Several years experience with web site development and maintenance * Demonstrated proficiency with web design, implementation, and management tools (e.g., HTML, DHTML, XML, Perl/ CSS JavaScript, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat InDesign, Dreamweaver, FrontPage, WebTrends, etc.) * Keen eye for clean user interface implementation and knowledge of web site design best practices * Proficiency in planning, installing, and maintaining relational databases and in using database tools, including MS SQL * Ability to identify user needs and to document project requirements * Skill and experience planning data flows for a new or revised database * Ability to map both back end organization of data and front end accessibility for end users * Maintaining data standards, including writing of documentation, procedures, and definitions * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills * Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong QA skills * Able to build effective working relationships across teams * Ability to learn and use new development tools and techniques Please send resume, cover letter, and salary history to: Human Resources Department/Web and Database Specialist Skirball Cultural Center 2701 N.
