Director of Finance and Operations

Coro ’s programs work on two tracks simultaneously: encouraging leaders from across sectors and neighborhoods to collaborate while showing participants the “way in” to the decision-making processes that govern New York City . With an annual budget of $1.6 million, Coro New York has built on their signature Fellows Program and now also runs Leadership New York for mid-career professionals, New American Leaders for recent immigrants, ReInvest for older adults, and Exploring Leadership for New York City public high school students.
Coro New York is seeking a Director of Finance and Operations (DFO) who will have primary responsibility for overseeing Coro ’s financial, operational, and human resources management in addition to managing the technological infrastructure of the organization. The DFO reports to the Deputy Executive Director and supervises the Office Manager, who supports all operations and finance activities. As Coro New York continues to grow their programs, this person will play an integral role in defining systems and processes that will poise Coro New York to become one of the premiere leadership development centers in the country.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Finance and Operations will be responsible for overseeing all financial, operational and human resource functions. Major responsibilities include:
Fiscal
Oversee daily management of financial systems and procedures, including expense management and cash flow
Manage annual audit and 990 creation
Coordinate annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director
Create and present fiscal reports to staff and board
Operations
Work with Office Manager to ensure smooth daily operations of the facility
Oversee selection and maintenance of all equipment and manage relationships with service vendors
Work with third party vendor(s) to manage Coro ’s computer network
Serve as primary liaison to landlord and subtenants
Human Resources
Build Human Resources function, including: facilitating the process of creating job descriptions for all positions; creating and launching a performance assessment system ; r evising and updating the Employee Manual; and evaluating and improving benefit offerings
Manage the on boarding and orientation of all new employees
Serve as benefits administrator
Position Requirements :
· 3 – 5 years experience in fiscal management; non-profit finance experience a plus;
· 2 years supervisory experience;
· Benefits administration experience preferred;
· Expert knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting software;
· Experience with planning and budgeting processes, including audits;
· Positive attitude and willingness to pitch in to support other organizational initiatives as needed;
· The ability to remain unflappable during crises, and to manage in a calm, effective manner while managing multiple competing priorities; and
· An outgoing personality, comfortable sharing both positive and constructive feedback to ensure the highest level of quality.
