From the name of the organization, we can usually figure out what type of organization you work for, which can be helpful when trying to answer questions because different types of organizations have different issues and can use RE differently. (Did I say the word different enough in that sentance.)

We're off topic here, but anyways here goes:
I used to have all my info evident here when I first joined this forum way back in May. Then Peter sent out this message which made me drop it.:
------
"At 8:00am MDT tomorrow I am going to make the forums viewable to
unregistered people. They will be able to see all our posts, but will not be
able to post, search, view profiles, or really do anything else.
I have removed the restrictions on "generic" email addresses, and
turned off the requirement for account moderation. Too many users at this
point. We can't pre-screen effectively, so I will just ban the evildoers.
Report any misdeeds to me at once.
Risks:
- if your email address is in your signature you may want to remove it.
Email trawlers will grab it and you'll get spammed.
- If your full name, title and what have you are in your username or
signature, think about if you want to change them. Do you want everyone
and anyone to be able to see them?
- Our numbers are likely going to grow. Last count was 143 people, and
still growing every 5 minutes or so.
Tomorrow we are being featured on the front page of
www.supportingadvancement.com (thanks Brian!). Once that happens, we will be a known
entity on the web, and this becomes a whole new ball game."

So, I choose to remove all my info from the signature as he suggested. I've mentioned all the pertinent info in my messages anyway. So some of us just prefer not to have everything out there for spammers and pains-in-the-a--es.
I do agree however, if there is a question relevant to a particular country or user situation that we should identify that in our messages.
